For Contact center engineers and administrators migrating from Cisco Unified Contact Center Enterprise to Webex Contact Center..

Cisco's migration and transition documentation index lists a deployment guide titled Unified Contact Center Enterprise (CCE) to Webex Contact Center (CC) 11. On the same index, a separate transition map document is listed for Unified CCX to Webex Contact Center, but none is listed for Unified CCE, which has only the deployment guide 34.

Before you start

  • Cisco's migration and transition documentation index lists a deployment guide titled Unified Contact Center Enterprise (CCE) to Webex Contact Center (CC) 11.
  • On the same index, a separate transition map document is listed for Unified CCX to Webex Contact Center, but none is listed for Unified CCE, which has only the deployment guide 34.
  • Cisco's documented Webex Contact Center migration discovery tool article covers migration from Unified CCX, not from Unified CCE 51. Cisco states that its migration tool is continuously evolving and may not support all the latest features 50.
  • The Cisco Collaboration Flex Plan 3.0 Contact Center subscription allows customers to deploy agents on-premises and/or in the Webex cloud, with mix-and-match and transitions possible across all deployment models 61. Flex 3.0 Contact Center covers Webex Contact Center, Webex Contact Center Enterprise, and on-premises platforms including Unified CCE 62. Flex 3.0 sells Standard Agent and Premium Agent tiers under Concurrent and Named models 63, where the Named Agent model is available for Webex Contact Center only 64, and the Concurrent Agent model applies to all contact center platforms 65.
  • For Flex 3.0 cloud contact center, agent overage is calculated each month when agents used exceed committed agents 66, whereas on-premises contact center customers who exceed licence counts must return to compliance by modifying the subscription or adding a second subscription 67. Customers commit to agent quantities for the whole subscription term 68.
  • Target configuration entities created in Webex Contact Center include user profiles, auxiliary codes, agent profiles, skill definitions, skill profiles, teams, entry points, queues, entry point mappings, and users 49.
  • See also Cisco Collaboration Flex Plan.

What changes by situation

Pick your answers to see only your path. Nothing is sent anywhere until you make a plan.

How will Webex Contact Center reach the PSTN?
Does the CVP-hosted IVR keep running during the move?

Two questions. One permanent page you can send to your manager.

Step 1 Inventory dialed numbers, call types, and routing scripts

Do

Export all Unified CCE dialed numbers, noting that each dialed number is a string representing the number dialed preceded by the routing client name and a period 22. Map each dialed number to its associated call type, which serves as the first-level category of a contact determined by data associated with the contact 5. Document any call type categorised by dialed number, calling line ID (CLID), and caller-entered digits (CED) 6. Record which routing scripts are scheduled for each call type, as Unified CCE schedules routing scripts by call type 44.

Verify

Suggested check: verify that every active dialed number resolves to an identified call type and scheduled script.

Rollback

Suggested rollback: retain the exported inventory records.

Step 2 Inventory skill groups, precision queues, and attributes

Do

In Unified CCE, precision routing serves as a multidimensional alternative to skill group routing 38. Inventory each precision queue's boolean attributes compared with equality operators and proficiency attributes compared with relational operators 39. Record precision queue structure, noting that a precision queue has 1 to 10 steps, each with up to 10 terms per expression, an optional wait time, and an optional Consider If formula 41. Record script queue priorities, where a Precision Queue script node sets a priority from 1 to 20 (default 5) with the lowest priority number routed first 40. Check these counts against Webex Contact Center limits: an organization is limited to 1000 active skill definitions, 9000 skill profiles with at most 50 skills per profile 32, 500 skill-based queues, and 10500 team-based queues 31.

Verify

Suggested check: verify that the total inventory counts do not exceed the tenant limits for skills, skill profiles, and queues.

Rollback

Suggested rollback: retain the audit data for platform build reference.

Step 3 Establish voice connectivity

Keep your carrier through a Local Gateway

Do

Configure a Webex Calling Local Gateway using Cisco CUBE or an approved third-party Session Border Controller (SBC) to maintain the existing on-premises PSTN carrier for Webex Contact Center 2969. In Webex Calling, a Local Gateway is an on-premises device interconnecting the trunk with on-premises PSTN or a PBX 70. Ensure third-party SBCs are validated models using certificate-based trunks 7172. For Cisco CUBE, ensure the required Cisco IOS XE release is deployed 73.

Verify

Suggested check: place an inbound test call through the Local Gateway to verify signaling reaches Webex Calling.

Rollback

Suggested rollback: remove the test dial peers or trunk associations on the Local Gateway.

Cloud PSTN from Cisco or a partner

Do

Webex Contact Center voice connectivity options include Webex Contact Center PSTN, Webex Calling Cloud Connected PSTN, Cisco Webex Calling Plan, and Webex Calling Local Gateway 42. Webex Contact Center PSTN is available in the contiguous United States and Canada only 54. For broader international deployments, provision Webex Calling Cloud Connected PSTN, which provides connectivity in over 65 countries through Certified Calling Providers 7.

Verify

Suggested check: verify in Control Hub that provisioned cloud test numbers display an active status.

Rollback

Suggested rollback: unassign or release the ordered cloud test numbers in Control Hub.

Step 4 Build skills, skill profiles, and teams

Do

In Webex Contact Center, skill definitions must use one of 4 types: boolean, enum, proficiency (0 through 10), or text (up to 40 characters) 59. Assign skill definitions to skill profiles, and assign those skill profiles to teams or individual agents 56. Create teams for non-skill queue distribution, as an agent's queue membership in non-skill-based queues follows the team the agent signs in to 60.

Verify

Suggested check: review configured skill profiles in Control Hub to verify assigned skills and proficiency score ranges.

Rollback

Suggested rollback: delete newly created skill profiles and skill definitions from the management portal.

Step 5 Build queues and routing patterns

Do

In Webex Contact Center, each queue must use one of 3 routing types: team-based, agent-based, or skill-based 55. Ensure that no single queue exceeds the limit of 1000 agents added to it 43. For skill-based queues, select either Longest Available Agent or Best Available Agent routing, where Best Available Agent utilizes proficiency-based skill scores 58. Configure skill relaxation intervals if criteria must loosen over time while contacts wait in queue 57. For team-based queues, configure call distribution groups with an add-group-after time in seconds to expand to successive groups 53.

Verify

Suggested check: verify that each queue has its routing type and distribution settings assigned without exceeding the agent capacity.

Rollback

Suggested rollback: delete or disable the configured queues in Control Hub.

Step 6 Build IVR and routing flows

Rebuild first

Do

Rebuild the IVR logic in Flow Designer, which is the drag-and-drop tool for building flows that route real-time calls and decide agent assignment 24. Note that Unified CVP self-service applications are built using Call Studio, VXML Server, and prebuilt Unified CVP Elements 14. Use Flow Designer voice and utility activities, including Play Message, Menu, Collect Digits, Queue Contact, Virtual Agent V2, Callback, Business Hours, HTTP Request, Set Variable, Blind Transfer, and Bridged Transfer 23. Flow Designer templates can be used as starting points, and flows can be exported and imported 25. Resolve all validation errors before publishing, and utilize Latest, Test, or Live tags 26.

Verify

Suggested check: execute validation checks in Flow Designer and confirm zero errors before saving with the Test tag.

Rollback

Suggested rollback: restore the prior flow export or change the version tag back to a previous release.

CVP stays for now

Do

Build a routing flow in Flow Designer that routes callers to the existing Unified CVP IVR using the Bridged Transfer activity 23. Unified CVP documentation supports transferring calls from ingress to a VRU, to Unified CCE, or to an external customer-provided ACD or agent and back again 15. Note that Unified CVP defines 4 call flow models: Standalone, Comprehensive, Call Director, and VRU-Only 16, where the Standalone model provides self-service via VXML Server without a Call Server component 17. Ensure all flow validation errors are resolved before publishing 26.

Verify

Suggested check: test that incoming calls to the flow initiate the Bridged Transfer to the target CVP routing destination.

Rollback

Suggested rollback: update the flow version tag or remove the Bridged Transfer activity from the published flow.

Step 7 Create entry points and attach flows

Do

In Webex Contact Center, configure inbound telephony channels, which consist of an entry point mapped to support or dial numbers 9. Select support numbers from PSTN numbers configured in Webex Calling in +E.164 format 48. Assign each entry point one routing flow, setting the entry point timezone to drive the flow's Business Hours activity 810. Verify that the total number of entry points does not exceed the limit of 6000 active entry points per organization 30.

Verify

Suggested check: place a test call to an assigned support number and confirm it enters the mapped flow.

Rollback

Suggested rollback: unmap the support number from the entry point or delete the channel configuration.

Step 8 Configure Agent Desktop

Do

Webex Contact Center Agent Desktop is web-based, handles voice, chat, and email interactions, and requires a display larger than 500 by 500 pixels 18. Configure desktop layouts using JSON files assigned to teams; new teams receive the system Global Layout until a custom layout is applied 19. Incorporate custom widgets built as iframes or web components, including persistent and headless widgets, to replicate custom interface requirements 21. Instruct agents that during sign-in they must select a calling preference of Desktop (browser WebRTC), Extension, or Dial Number, and select their team 20.

Webex Contact Center Agent DesktopAn original schematic of Webex Contact Center Agent Desktop during a voice call: the header across the top with the state selector and outdial and the user profile at the top right, the navigation bar on the left, the task list at the top left, the interaction control pane with its call buttons at the top centre, and the auxiliary information pane below it. The regions sit where Cisco describes them; the order of the controls inside the header and the pane and the place of the Wrap Up Reasons dialog, which opens after End, are approximate. This drawing picks out state selector as number 2 and user profile (profile settings and sign out) as number 4.123456789101112131415

Schematic, not to scale.

Verify

Suggested check: log in to Agent Desktop as a test agent, verify the assigned team layout renders, and confirm the calling preference settings.

Rollback

Suggested rollback: revert the team desktop layout assignment back to the default Global Layout.

Step 9 Rebuild reporting and search integrations

Do

Recreate contact center operational reports in Webex Contact Center Analyzer, which provides real-time and historical reports, read-only stock reports that can be copied into custom visualizations, and export of historical visualizations to Excel or CSV 1. For custom data integrations or warehouse ingestion, configure the Webex Contact Center Search API GraphQL interface 45. Use the taskDetails query for customer session and activity records (CSR and CAR), and the agentSession query for agent session and activity records (ASR and AAR) 45. Enforce API query constraints: a query span must not exceed 13 months, and raw AAR or CAR queries must not exceed 30 days 46.

Verify

Suggested check: run a sample GraphQL Search API query within the allowable date range to confirm CSR, CAR, ASR, or AAR data retrieval.

Rollback

Suggested rollback: delete custom Analyzer visualizations and disable any test API credentials or integrations.

Applicability

Applies to: Cisco Webex Contact Center Analyzer, Cisco Unified Contact Center Enterprise, Cisco Webex Contact Center, Cisco Unified Customer Voice Portal, Cisco Webex Contact Center Agent Desktop, Cisco Webex Contact Center Flow Designer, Cisco Webex Contact Center Search API, Cisco Webex Contact Center migration tool, Cisco Webex Calling, and Cisco Collaboration Flex 3.0 Contact Center.
