Cisco announced the end of sale and end of life for versions 12.5 and 12.6 of its on-premises contact center applications under bulletin identifier EOL15696 on 30 June 2025 111. This single announcement covers Unified CCE, Packaged CCE, Unified CCX, and Unified CVP together with their associated on-premises software and licenses 39.

Milestone dates and policy alignment

Cisco defines the end-of-sale date in bulletin EOL15696 as the last date to order the product through Cisco point-of-sale mechanisms 13. The end of software maintenance releases date is defined as the last date that Cisco Engineering may release any final software maintenance releases or bug fixes 15. Cisco defines the last date of support as the last date to receive applicable service and support for the product as entitled by active service contracts 21.

Milestone Date
End-of-Life Announcement Date 30 June 2025 1
End-of-Sale Date 31 December 2025 12
Last Ship Date 31 March 2026 19
End of SW Maintenance Releases Date 31 December 2026 14
End of New Service Attachment Date 31 December 2026 10
End of Service Contract Renewal Date 31 December 2027 16
Last Date of Support 31 December 2027 20

Cisco's end-of-life policy states that external notification of end of sale is typically 6 months before the end-of-sale date, and provides 2 years of TAC support for application software from the end-of-sale date 3435. WarmTransfer's reading of the sources is that the EOL15696 milestone dates follow Cisco's standard application software intervals: 6 months from announcement to end of sale, 1 year from end of sale to end of software maintenance, and 2 years from end of sale to last date of support 42.

Support continuity and vulnerability handling

Cisco states that customers with active service contracts continue to receive Cisco Technical Assistance Center support for 12.5 and 12.6 on-premises contact center software after the end-of-sale date, within the milestone dates in the bulletin 40. WarmTransfer's reading of the sources is that the end-of-sale date of 31 December 2025 does not by itself require a customer to stop running or to remove Cisco on-premises contact center 12.5 or 12.6; it bars new orders while support entitlement continues under active contracts to 31 December 2027 27.

Cisco's security vulnerability policy states that after end of sale, the availability of security fixes for vulnerabilities is defined in the product's end-of-sale bulletin 36. Once the last date of support is reached, Cisco PSIRT continues to accept vulnerability reports but will not analyse, fix, or disclose potential vulnerabilities 37.

Migration options and release 15 upgrade requirements

The migration guidance in Cisco bulletin EOL15696 is that customers move to version 15 or higher of the on-premises contact center applications 22. Cisco bulletin EOL15696 also offers the Cisco Technology Migration Program as a route to trade in eligible products for credit toward new Cisco equipment 41. In addition, Cisco bulletin EOL15696 states that remanufactured units may be available in limited supply in certain countries on a first-come first-served basis until the last date of support is reached 38.

The release notes for Cisco Contact Center Enterprise Solutions release 15.0(1) carry an update date of 30 April 2025, 2 months before the 12.5 and 12.6 end-of-life announcement 52. Cisco continued to publish Engineering Special release notes for contact center enterprise 15.0(1) after the 12.5 and 12.6 end-of-sale date, with documents dated 31 March 2026 and 31 July 2026 49.

Documented upgrade paths to version 15 include:

  • Unified CCE 15.0(1) supports upgrades from Unified CCE 12.5(2) or 12.6(x) 44.
  • Unified CCX 15.0 supports upgrades only from Unified CCX 12.5(1), 12.5(1) SU1, 12.5(1) SU2, and 12.5(1) SU3, and any earlier release must first be upgraded to 12.5 48.
  • Unified CVP 15.0(1) documented upgrade paths start from Unified CVP 12.5(1), 12.6(1), or 12.6(2) 9.

Unified CCE 15.0(1) upgrades land on either Windows Server 2019 with SQL Server 2019 or Windows Server 2022 with SQL Server 2022 50. Upgrading a Unified CCE deployment from Windows Server 2016 with SQL Server 2017 to Windows Server 2019 with SQL Server 2019 is not supported; such deployments must move to Windows Server 2022 with SQL Server 2022 51. Before upgrading a Hosted Collaboration Solution for Contact Center deployment to release 15.0(1), the deployment must first be switched to a Unified CCE deployment type 18.

Publishing context and licensing history

Cisco published the 12.5 and 12.6 end-of-sale announcement under the Cisco Collaboration Flex Plan collateral path rather than under the collateral path of any individual contact center product 28. Cisco's Unified CCX end-of-life notice index lists the version 12.5/12.6 on-premises contact center applications notice with the printed date 30/Jun/2025 46.

Prior milestones for contact center releases and licensing include:

  • Earlier Cisco bulletin EOL13640 announced end of sale for contact center enterprise 12.0 on 23 January 2021 with an end-of-sale date of 23 April 2021 and a last date of support of 30 April 2024 2. That bulletin directed customers to migrate using Cisco Collaboration Flex Plan Contact Center under part number A-FLEX-CC 3.
  • Cisco bulletin EOL14628, announced 31 January 2022, ended sale of perpetual licensing for Unified CCE, Packaged CCE, Unified CVP, and HCS for Contact Center on 1 August 2022 with a last date of support of 31 July 2024 29.
  • Cisco bulletin EOL14626, announced 31 January 2022, ended sale of perpetual licensing for Unified CCX on 1 August 2022 with a last date of support of 31 July 2024 31.

WarmTransfer's reading of the sources is that Cisco retired the perpetual licensing model for on-premises contact center in 2022 and the 12.5 and 12.6 software versions in 2025 as 2 separate end-of-sale events with different scopes and different milestone dates 32.

Unified CCE 12.5(1) is not named as a direct in-place-upgrade source to 15.0(1): the guide's Supported Upgrade Paths table lists exactly one in-place-upgrade row, 'Unified CCE 12.5(2)/12.6(x) to Unified CCE 15.0(1)', naming no 12.5(1) row. But the same guide's Upgrade Prerequisites section documents a 12.5(1)-to-15.0(1) reporting migration: 'When you migrate the reporting from 12.5(1) or 12.5(2) to 15.0(1), you will encounter changes related to report filters.' The gap is therefore partial: a full platform in-place upgrade from 12.5(1) is undocumented, while a 12.5(1) reporting migration to 15.0(1) is documented.
