Troubleshooting blank or incorrect reports in Cisco Unified Intelligence Center

Verified 2026-10-02 · 59 sources · tier 2

Also known as cuic-blank-report, cuic-report-no-data.

Cisco Unified Intelligence Center (CUIC) uses separate server, data source and user time zone settings for reporting, and its stock reports, value lists and collections determine which data a user can filter and see 44 5. Blank or incorrect reports can come from several documented causes: an offline data source, a stock report version mismatch, or permission changes on upgrade, and differing counts between reports come from report designs that include different call types 3 41 55 50.

Time zones and shifted data

CUIC 15.0 uses 3 related time zone settings for reporting: server, data source and user 44. The server time zone is set at install and managed by CLI 38. CUIC falls back to it when the user time zone or the data source time zone is not set 38. A user's time zone is set on the User Information page 56. It governs report display, filter date entry, the user's scheduled reports, dashboards and signed-in permalinks 56. The data source time zone field is meant to be set to the time zone the database is located in 12.

We infer that when a historical CUIC report's data is shifted by a whole number of hours while Live Data looks right, the data source time zone setting is the most likely cause, rather than the user or the database time zone 18.

Daylight saving time affects filtered reports 13. When a report is filtered and the user and data source time zones differ, CUIC applies the daylight saving time offset in force at the start of the date range to the whole conversion 13. If a daylight saving time change falls inside the date range and the time zones differ, Cisco advises splitting the time filter so that separate report runs cover the periods before and after the change 14.

CUIC Live Data reports do not react automatically to a change in server or client system time 28. The report must be refreshed before duration fields display accurately 28.

Data sources and alarms

CUIC 15.0 supports query-based SQL data sources on Microsoft SQL Server and IBM Informix, plus Streaming data sources 11. A report definition query is one of 4 types: SQL Query, Anonymous Block, Stored Procedure or Real Time Streaming 31. Real Time Streaming reads from a streaming data source 31. When you configure a report definition's Datasource and Query tab, you must select an online data source 32.

Data source cards show the state of each data source 9:

  • A green icon means the data source is online, and a red icon means it is offline 9.
  • An asterisk marks the node currently used for reporting 9.
  • Primary and secondary nodes are shown separately 9.

When you create or edit a data source, Test Connection confirms that the database is reachable and that the supplied credentials are correct 10. Only a user with the System Configuration Administrator role can create or edit a data source 8. A data source cannot be deleted while report definitions or value lists reference it 7. The stock CUIC, UCCE Historical and UCCE Real-Time data sources cannot be deleted at all 7.

CUIC raises these critical alarms for failures that affect reports 3 1 2:

Alarm Event Trigger
CUIC_REPORT_EXECUTION_FAILED 61900 The reporting server cannot run a report, possibly because the associated data source is offline 3
CUIC_DATABASE_UNAVAILABLE 61902 The local Informix database server is unavailable 1
CUIC_INITIAL_REPORT_IMPORT_FAILED 61905 The stock report import during initial setup fails, which the associated data source being offline can cause 2

The minimum refresh rate for a report definition is 15 seconds for real-time reports and 900 seconds for historical reports 34.

Filters, value lists and collections

A value list holds reportable items of 1 type, such as agents or skill groups 5. A collection is a subset of a value list that controls how much data specific users and groups see 5. Group or user permissions decide whether a user can filter by a value list or collection, and the higher of the applicable permissions takes precedence 15.

CUIC ships no stock collections, so all collections are custom 29. Only users with the Value List Collection Designer role can create or delete collections 4. After a collection is modified, the schedules, reports and dashboards that use it are not updated automatically, and the collection must be reselected in each of them 6.

Value lists and collections built on collection queries refresh automatically at midnight in the server time zone 58. The refresh runs on the primary node and propagates to the other cluster nodes 58.

If the Report Designer selected the 'Skip filter during the report processing' check box, users cannot view the report's filters 39.

Stock reports and upgrades

On an upgrade of CUIC from 12.5(1) to 12.6(1), the permissions of all stock value lists for the ALLUSERS group are set to NONE 55. We infer that users who see empty key-criteria filter lists in stock reports right after that upgrade are likely hitting this permission reset, so review those permissions first 17.

After repeated UCCE and CUIC upgrades, stock reports from older versions can remain in CUIC and produce incorrect data 41. In that case, download and deploy the stock reports for the current UCCE version 41. Cisco advises saving the existing templates for rollback before importing the compatible templates 37.

UCCE CUIC report bundles are downloaded from Cisco.com under Intelligence Center Reports 36. The bundles are:

  • Transitional 36
  • All Fields 36
  • Outbound 36
  • Live Data 36
  • Contact Sharing 36
  • Admin Security 36
  • License Consumption 36

Importing a report requires all of the following 16:

  • The Report Designer role 16
  • The Report Definition Designer role 16
  • The Value List Collection Designer role 16
  • Edit permission on the target folder 16

Live Data in UCCE

UCCE documentation describes Live Data reports as refreshing far faster than Historical and Realtime reports, usually in under 3 seconds 27.

Work through these checks when Live Data reports fail 22 24 19 20:

  • If a UCCE Live Data data source shows offline in CUIC despite correct configuration, check that the Live Data Web Service and SocketIO Service ports are open in both directions between the Live Data server and the browser 22.
  • Run 'show live-data failover', which reports cluster states such as PAIRED-ACTIVE, PAIRED-STANDBY, ISOLATED or OUT-OF-SERVICE 24.
  • Live Data connectivity to the AW database is configured with 'set live-data aw-access' 19. Verify it with 'show live-data aw-access', and confirm that the test status reads Succeeded 19.
  • For Live Data and CUIC gadgets in Finesse, enable CORS on both CUIC and Live Data with the utils cuic cors and utils live-data cors commands, and add the Finesse server as an allowed origin 20.

Live Data can stay OUT-OF-SERVICE when configuration limits are exceeded or when the servers are not deployed according to the supported deployment model 21.

UCCE data timing

By default, the Unified CCE Peripheral Gateway and Call Router produce real-time data every 15 seconds 46. That data is stored in Administration and Data Server (AW) real-time tables, which are continuously overwritten 46. Some Unified CCE historical interval tables can be configured to hold 15-minute or 30-minute summary data 45.

Unified CCX report differences

In Unified CCX 15.0, report access depends on role 53:

  • Agents can run Live Data agent reports 53.
  • Supervisors can run Live Data agent and supervisor reports 53.
  • Reporting users can run both Historical and Live Data reports 53.

A supervisor must be assigned an agent extension to access Live Data reports in Unified Intelligence Center 51. From Unified CCX 11.6(1), supervisors can run historical reports, but those reports generate data only for the agents and CSQs assigned to that supervisor 54.

Unified CCX writes records to the database at different points 52:

  • Call records (CCDR, CRDR, CQDR) are written only after the call completes 52.
  • Agent state records are written after state changes 52.
  • ACDRs are written when the agent leaves Work state 52.

Cisco states that differing counts between Unified CCX reports stem from each report including different call types, and that the differences are inherent in report design rather than product limitations 50. Common examples:

  • Consult calls are always classified as Non-ACD in historical reports 49.
  • In the Contact Service Queue Activity Report, calls presented equals calls handled plus abandoned plus dequeued plus handled by others, not just handled plus abandoned 48.
  • The Agent Summary Report counts ACD calls only, while the Agent Detail Report also shows IVR calls, which explains zero talk time in one report and a value in the other 47.
