Also known as webex-calling-dect-network-troubleshooting.
On Webex Calling, Cisco IP DECT DBS-110 and DBS-210 base stations are added to a DECT network in Control Hub, and Cisco IP DECT 6823, 6825 and 6825 Ruggedized handsets pair to those bases with an access code 4627. Faults can be read from base LED states, handset screen messages, and status fields on the base web pages and in Control Hub 3128568.
How a Webex Calling DECT network is built
On Webex Calling the DBS-110 supports single-cell deployments only, with repeaters 13. The DBS-210 supports single-cell, dual-cell and multi-cell deployments with repeaters 17. DBS-110 and DBS-210 base stations cannot be mixed within one Webex Calling DECT network 40. Webex Calling multicell support for the DBS-210 allows up to 1000 lines across up to 254 bases in a DECT network 33.
Base stations are added by MAC address, up to 5 at a time, comma-separated 4. A handset can have at most 2 lines 29. Control Hub lets an administrator add a second handset to a DECT line, after which the line can be switched between the 2 handsets 52. When assigning a shared line to a DECT handset, Control Hub allows numbers from a different Webex Calling location than the device's location 54.
A DECT network can use a default access code, where every registered handset uses the same pairing PIN 2. It can instead use auto-generated access codes, giving each registered handset its own unique pairing PIN 1. The access code is used both when a handset joins the network for the first time and when a disconnected handset rejoins 3.
The Cisco IP DECT 6800 Series data sheet lists these per-mode limits 9101615:
| Base and mode | Data sheet limits |
|---|---|
| DBS-110 single-cell | Up to 30 SIP registrations, up to 10 concurrent calls, up to 6 repeaters 9 |
| DBS-110 dual-cell | 2 bases, up to 20 concurrent calls, up to 12 repeaters 10 |
| DBS-210 single-cell | Up to 30 SIP registrations, up to 10 concurrent calls, up to 3 repeaters 16 |
| DBS-210 multicell | Up to 254 bases, up to 1000 SIP registrations, up to 2000 concurrent calls, up to 100 repeaters 15 |
Cisco says a repeater extends base station range by up to 984 feet outdoors or 164 feet indoors 45.
Preparing bases and pairing handsets
Cisco documents that a DBS-210 base must be on firmware version 480 before it is configured on Webex Calling 14. Cisco documents firmware version 480Bx as the prerequisite for configuring a DBS-110 base on Webex Calling 12. DBS-210 and DBS-110 bases must be factory reset before being configured for Webex Calling 21. To factory reset one, hold the reset button on the bottom edge of the base for about 10 seconds and release when the LED turns red 47.
Multicast must be configured on the local network so DECT bases can sync with each other, and Cisco states that omitting it causes performance issues in the DECT network 32. A dual-cell or multicell DECT system must use a network time server 35. From firmware release 4.8, a multicell system can be configured automatically without a primary base station 22.
All base stations in a multicell system must be on the same factory-configured RF band to communicate, which you can confirm by comparing the RF Band field on each base 36. Cisco IP DECT 6800 hardware ships in regional RF variants: 1880-1900 MHz for EU, APAC and AU/NZ, and 1920-1930 MHz for the US and Canada 48.
A handset is paired from the handset itself via Menu > Connectivity > Register, by selecting an empty row and entering the access code in the AC field 27. After a repeater is powered on, its registration to the base must happen within 5 minutes 46. A handset must be placed on its charging station to receive a firmware update 26.
Diagnosing it
Symptoms and first checks
| Symptom | Meaning | First checks |
|---|---|---|
| Base LED stays solid red and never turns green | The base cannot get an IP address 31 | Ethernet cable, switch port, DHCP server 31 |
| Base LED flashes red and handsets show No SIP Reg | The base cannot communicate with the call control system 30 | — |
| Handset shows 'Can't locate a base station' | — | Confirm the base is working, move the handset closer, consider an additional multicell base 5 |
| Handset shows Searching | The handset is too far from a base or the base is inactive 28 | Wait for any base reboot, confirm power and a green LED, add a repeater or base for lasting gaps 28 |
| Multi Cell page shows Searching! in the DECT property column | The bases cannot communicate 37 | Move the base closer (about -75 dBm recommended), add a base in between, check for interference 37 |
| Repeater LED is red and registration fails | The repeater is not in registration mode 44 | Unplug for 30 seconds or hold the reset button for 5 seconds 44 |
If a handset displays Deregistered, the guide says to click Refresh on the base Extensions page, reconnect the handset if prompted, and escalate to the service provider if the problem persists 25. For no audio with multiple handsets on a single-base system, the guide says to verify that Use Different SIP Ports is Enabled under Network Settings 39. When the Multi Cell page shows Searching!, also check that every base reports the same RF Band 36.
Status fields to read
Control Hub shows DECT device status as online, offline or unavailable under Management > Devices, and device details show handset registration status per base 8. On the base web interface, the Extensions page reports handset Terminal State as Present@RPNxx (connected), Detached, Located (configured but unreachable) or Removed (out of range for about an hour) 56. The Multi Cell page DECT Property column shows a base's sync role as Primary, Locked, Searching, Free Running, Unknown or Assisted lock 18, or as Sync. Lost 18. The Home/Status page shows each extension's SIP identity status as OK or SIP Error 55.
Every handset unregistered at once
Deleting the first provisioned handset in a Webex Calling DECT network causes all other handsets to change to an unregistered state 19. WarmTransfer's reading of the sources is that when every handset goes unregistered at once after an admin change, a recent deletion of the first provisioned handset is worth checking before treating it as a base or network outage 20.
After a firmware rollout or maintenance
Before the DBS-110/210 firmware 5.1.2 upgrade from November 2024, Cisco required Voice VLAN to be disabled on switch ports connected to Cisco DECT bases so that bases did not join the voice VLAN unintentionally 23. Before the firmware 5.1.3SR1 maintenance window in May 2026, Cisco told customers to disable 802.1X on all switch ports connected to Cisco DECT bases and to re-enable it only after the upgrade 24. We infer that a base that goes offline or shows a solid red LED after a DECT firmware rollout should be checked against the switch port's voice VLAN and 802.1X settings, because Cisco tied both to its 5.1.x upgrades 57.
A March 2026 maintenance standardised Cisco DECT base codec priority to G.711u, then G.711a, then G.729a, and customers can change codec preferences in Control Hub 7. Cisco says DECT bases pick up configuration changes automatically during the nightly resync 38.
Logs and support access
Cisco DECT base stations on Webex Calling can generate PRT logs that admins request and view in Control Hub 43. Base station PCAP logs are held in RAM and are lost if the base loses power or resets before they are downloaded 41. Multicell debug logging is enabled on the base Multi Cell page by setting Multi cell debug to Both, and it should be set back to Disabled after troubleshooting 34. The Control Hub DECT Network page has a support card that generates a serviceability password giving read and write access to all Cisco DECT base stations in that DECT network 53.
Control Hub visibility and the October 2026 SBC migration
Cisco announced that DBS-110 and DBS-210 bases move to different SBCs in maintenance windows from mid to late October 2026, and that only bases already on firmware 5.1.3 are included 49. Cisco says this migration is what enables device status, analytics and troubleshooting for Cisco DECT devices in Control Hub 50. Cisco asks admins to verify their bases are on firmware 5.1.3 and to reboot devices manually if needed, and says devices otherwise migrate automatically in the window 51. WarmTransfer's reading of the sources is that a Cisco DECT base still below firmware 5.1.3 after October 2026 is likely to be left off the new SBCs and to lack the new Control Hub status and troubleshooting views, so check its firmware first when those views are missing 42.
Platform differences
The Cisco data sheet lists a dual-cell mode for the DBS-110 10, while on Webex Calling the DBS-110 supports single-cell deployments only 13. WarmTransfer's reading of the sources is that DBS-110 dual-cell is a hardware and firmware capability that Webex Calling does not offer, so a customer who wants 2 DBS-110 cells on Webex Calling should be steered to the DBS-210 rather than troubleshooting dual-cell sync 11.
Webex Calling supports Yealink W52B, W60B and W70B DECT bases as Cisco-managed third-party devices, listed in Control Hub as W52P, W56P, W60P or W70P 58. From 31 January 2025, Control Hub no longer lets admins provision new Yealink W56P DECT bases, and existing ones keep working until the 30 September 2027 end-of-life date 59.
