The transcript and AI summary attached to a Webex Calling recording
Verified 2026-09-05 · 16 claims · sources tier 2 · 1 disputed
Also known as action items, speaker identification.
The transcript and AI summary are reached inside the recording player from a stored recording, and the summary action items carry timestamps that seek within the recording 5. 1 permission triple covers recordings and transcripts together: view and play, download, and delete 9.
Transcript and summary features
A user can edit the text of a transcript in a call recording and save the change 15. A user can also reformat the notes in an AI-generated summary and add or delete action items 12. No source states who may edit a transcript or summary, what happens to the original text, or whether an edit is logged 6.
A transcript can be downloaded as a file, while the summary cannot be downloaded at all 13. However, the call summary in Webex Calling can be copied to the clipboard even though it cannot be downloaded as a file 14.
The accuracy of speaker identification in a transcript depends on the recording mode an administrator chose 10. This is disputed: the article states that the recording player does not display the transcript and summary when the call is in English and the audio quality is low 7.
Administration and exclusions
The transcript has a Control Hub administrative surface at organisation and per-entity level, whereas the summary has none documented in any source 11. No source states what the AI summary is generated from, and none states what deleting a recording does to its transcript or summary 8.
The AI summary is excluded for Webex for Government and speaker identification is excluded for FedRAMP; the 2 exclusions are separate 16. Cisco publishes a separate article on artificial intelligence generated summaries for call recordings in the Webex App, and no tranche has read it 4.
