Supported languages and voices for Webex AI agents

Verified 2026-09-24 · 59 sources · tier 2

Cisco documents that customers can interact with Webex AI agents in their preferred language across both digital and voice channels 8. The language configuration, voice selection, and available locales differ depending on whether the agent is autonomous or scripted and which underlying AI engine is selected 34723.

Autonomous AI agent language and voice configuration

An autonomous Webex AI agent can be configured with only 1 language at a time, depending on the chosen AI engine, and the administrator can change it to another language as needed 3. The AI engine chosen for an autonomous agent determines its conversation settings, including language, voice, DTMF, and delays and interruptions 23. An autonomous AI agent engine combines a language model, guardrails, speech-to-text (ASR/STT), text-to-speech (TTS), an interim response model, and a turn prediction model 10.

For autonomous AI agents, 7 English locales are Generally Available: en-US, en-IN, en-GB, en-AU, en-IE, en-PH, and en-SG 26. On 2026-06-08 Cisco announced General Availability of expanded non-English language support for Webex AI Agent on voice and digital channels, stating 18 languages in GA 25. WarmTransfer's reading of the sources is that the 18 languages in the June 2026 GA announcement most likely counts locales, because the GA set covers 15 distinct non-English languages but 18 locales when French and Spanish variants are counted separately 1. For autonomous AI agents, 18 non-English locales are Generally Available: bg-BG, fr-FR, fr-CA, de-DE, gu-IN, hi-IN, hu-HU, it-IT, ja-JP, kn-IN, ko-KR, mr-IN, pl-PL, pt-BR, es-ES, es-MX, es-US, and vi-VN 27.

Autonomous agents also support code-mixed interactions in specific locales: an autonomous Webex AI agent configured in hi-IN, en-SG, or fil-PH can handle code-mixed conversations in Hinglish, Singlish, or Taglish respectively 9. Cisco states that Beta language support for AI agents is limited, but that no billing limits are applied per organisation 5.

Voice identifiers are printed as locale-prefixed names, for example en-PH-Angela or en-US-Jess 57. The voice is chosen from a Select voice drop-down, and the voices offered depend on the chosen AI engine and the configured language 58. An autonomous agent's speaking rate accepts values from 0.7 to 1.2, and the default of 1.0 is normal speed 51.

Under Webex AI Pro 1.0, the default English voice is en-US-Jennifer 12, and en-US has 9 voices: Maria, Daniel, Jennifer, Henry, Sophia, Ezra, Hazel, Oliver, and Clara 19.

  • en-GB has 5 voices under Webex AI Pro 1.0: Agnes, Colton, Emma, John, and Charlotte 15.
  • en-IE has 2 voices under Webex AI Pro 1.0 (Liam and Fiona) and 4 under Webex AI Pro-Europe 1.0 (en-IE-Fionn, en-IE-Rory, en-IE-Clodagh, and en-IE-Aoife) 16.
  • en-IN has 5 voices (Ananya, Veer, Arjun, Aarav, Kavita) and en-AU has 5 voices (Amelia, Chris, Mia, Henry, Olivia) under Webex AI Pro 1.0 17.
  • en-PH has 2 voices (en-PH-Angela, en-PH-James) and en-SG has 2 voices (en-SG-Emma, en-SG-Lucas) 18.
  • Spanish: es-ES has 7 voices (Cristina, Pablo, Maria, Diego, Javier, Carmen, Marco), es-MX has 2 (Luna, Arturo), and es-US has 2 (Alonso, Paloma) 50.
  • French: fr-FR has 6 voices (Ariane, Adrien, Alice, Vincent, Louis, Pauline) and fr-CA has 2 (Lea, Andre) 24.
  • German: de-DE has 6 voices (Emma, Jonas, Ella, Leo, Oskar, and Lena) 28.
  • Italian and Gujarati: it-IT has 8 voices (Alice, Nico, Anna, Marco, Giovanni, Sofia, Luca, Giulia) and gu-IN has 6 voices (Kavita, Siddharth, Pooja, Rohit, Riya, Anmol) 30.
  • Hindi: hi-IN has 4 voices (Kiara, Karan, Gayatri, and Rehman) 29.
  • Japanese and Korean: ja-JP has 3 voices (Yui, Kaito, Haru) and ko-KR has 4 voices (Jiwoo, Doyoon, Soomin, Hyunwoo) 31.
  • Polish and Portuguese: pl-PL has 4 voices (Natalia, Filip, Zuzanna, Hanna) and pt-BR has 4 voices (Camila, Davi, Ana, Carlos) 33.
  • Two-voice locales: bg-BG, hu-HU, vi-VN, kn-IN, and mr-IN each have 2 voices (bg-BG: Blagovesta, Hristo; hu-HU: Bence, Reka; vi-VN: Linh, Tai; kn-IN: Meghana, Arjun; mr-IN: Aarti, Manoj) 53.

Engine families and regional availability

Autonomous AI agents offer 3 engine families, each in a 1.0 and a 2.0 version: Webex AI Pro, Webex AI Pro-US, and Webex AI Pro-Europe 22. Webex AI Pro (1.0 and 2.0) is described as a general-purpose engine, available globally, with global language support 39. For the Webex AI Pro 1.0 engine, the default language is English and the administrator can choose another language from a drop-down list 36.

Webex AI Pro-US (1.0 and 2.0) is available only to US customers and supports English only 40. It is localized for regional accents and regulatory compliance 40. For the Webex AI Pro-US 1.0 engine, en-US is the default locale 41, and the default English voice is en-US-Jess 13.

Webex AI Pro-Europe (1.0 and 2.0) is available only to European customers and supports English only 38. Webex AI Pro Europe went live for autonomous AI agents on 2026-05-11 and was initially available in English 37. It is localized for regional accents and regulatory compliance 38. For Webex AI Pro-Europe 1.0, en-GB is the default locale 41, and the default English voice is en-GB-Grace 11.

Cisco says Webex AI Pro-US and Pro-Europe give a more human-like conversational experience but offer fewer voices, while Webex AI Pro offers a wide range of voices in various accents 59. With the Webex AI Pro-US 1.0 or Webex AI Pro-Europe 1.0 engine, voice conversations can be previewed in English only 35.

On 2026-09-08 Cisco announced new AI engines for Webex AI Agent: Webex AI Pro 2.0, Webex AI Pro US 2.0, and Webex AI Pro EU 2.0 56. Cisco states that Webex AI Pro 1.0, Webex AI Pro-US 1.0, and Webex AI Pro-Europe 1.0 will be deprecated in the near future, although the engines article gives no date 54. A separate announcement notes that support for the version 1.0 Webex AI Agent engines ends on 2027-02-15 55. WarmTransfer's reading of the sources is that the language and voice tables most likely predate the Webex AI Pro 2.0 engines for autonomous agents: the article was last updated 2026-07-16, lists only 1.0 engines for autonomous agents, and the 2.0 engines were announced on 2026-09-08 52.

The "Languages supported by Cisco AI Assistant" documentation covers AI Assistant for Webex Suite, AI for Devices, and AI for Calling, not Webex AI agents, and its language lists represent a separate matrix 2.

Scripted AI agent models and languages

A scripted Webex AI agent can be configured with multiple languages at the same time, with 1 of them set as the default language 47. Scripted AI agents use NLU, dialogue management, and response retrieval, and add ASR and TTS for voice interactions 49.

AI Agent Studio supports 2 multilingual models for training scripted AI agents: Polymatch and Language Encoder 46. When a scripted AI agent is trained with Polymatch, a separate model is created for each language 34. Cisco says Language Encoder works best for training data made of long utterances and Polymatch works best for short utterances 32.

Every row in the scripted AI agent language table lists Webex AI Pro 2.0 and Webex AI Pro 1.0 (with Swiftmatch) as the supporting engines 44. For scripted AI agents, only 5 English locales are Generally Available: en-US, en-IN, en-GB, en-AU, and en-IE 45. In addition, 13 non-English locales are in Beta: da-DK, nl-NL, fr-FR, fr-CA, de-DE, it-IT, nb-NO, pl-PL, pt-BR, es-ES, es-MX, es-US, and sv-SE 43. For scripted AI agents, Polish (pl-PL) is supported only by the Language Encoder model; every other locale in the scripted table is supported by both Language Encoder and Polymatch 48.
