Whether Microsoft will eventually require the Client Authentication EKU on SBC certificates is unsettled. The December 2025 entry said it would, and the later clarification says the current tolerance should continue for the foreseeable future. Advice that SBC certificates must carry the Client Authentication EKU today is not supported.
