# Webex Go and mobile calling options

Cisco describes Webex Go as a mobility solution that offers a secure, compliant calling experience with flexible deployment and connectivity options[^24]. Architecturally, Webex Calling treats a Webex Go device as a SIP-registered device, which makes it one more endpoint for delivering the user's business calls[^54].

## Deployment Models and Device Types

Webex Go supports both personal phones and business-supplied devices[^18][^16]. For personal mobile phones (BYOD), Webex Go adds the user's Webex Calling business number to their personal phone as a second line through an eSIM[^18]. Cisco states that Webex Go BYOD calls have higher media quality than Webex App over-the-top VoIP calls on the personal data plan, because business calls go over the mobile voice network instead of data[^17]. To activate BYOD Webex Go, the phone must be carrier unlocked, dual-SIM capable, and able to support an active eSIM profile[^25]. The eSIM activation uses a single-use QR code delivered by email[^35].

For business-supplied devices, starting with AT&T in the United States, Webex Go makes the wireless number replace the user's fixed Webex Calling business number[^16]. AT&T markets Webex Go under AT&T Cloud Voice with Webex, stating that business calls are placed from the phone's native dialer and that BYOD operates on compatible smartphones with eSIM or dual-SIM support[^11].

If a user wants to keep a published business number but cannot or will not port it to a Webex-certified provider, Cisco's alternate-identity approach assigns the published number as a secondary number[^4]. Under this alternate-identity approach, incoming calls to that published secondary number ring all of the user's devices, including the Webex Go device[^4], and the External Calling Line Identity policy can make outgoing calls present the published secondary number as caller ID[^5].

## Licensing, Providers, and Provisioning

Webex Go users require a Webex Calling Professional license[^50]. Service is purchased from Webex-certified mobile calling providers, which administrators can find in the PSTN section of Control Hub[^21] or at admin.webex.com/calling/pstn/providers by filtering on the Webex Go service type[^52]. Webex connects directly with mobile providers, and the provider connects to the Webex Calling platform to route business calls to activated devices[^51].

Webex Go prerequisites include a mobile plan, a phone number, and a device or eSIM from a certified mobile calling provider[^48]. The provider must validate the mobile number and enable it for Webex before it can be provisioned in Webex Calling[^49]. For AT&T deployments, a prerequisite is a valid AT&T Foundational Account Number (FAN)[^47], and Webex Go with AT&T supports only 1 AT&T FAN per Webex organization[^13].

| Setting or Action | Path or Requirement | Behavior |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Add mobile numbers | Services > PSTN & Routing > Numbers > Manage > Add[^3] | Select location, choose 'Mobile Number', select operator[^3]; validated upon addition and inactive until assigned[^36] |
| Location assignment | Must match subscriber location[^22] | Number cannot be assigned properly if added to the wrong location[^22] |
| Assign to user | User Calling tab > Add Number under Directory Numbers (or Primary)[^8] | Select number with Webex mobile tag; device appears on user's Devices tab[^8] |
| AT&T activation states | Control Hub[^9] | Displays Pending, Successful, or Error[^9] |
| AT&T User Guide | Control Hub Add Numbers screen[^12] | Displayed from December 17, 2025 for AT&T-provisioned Webex Go numbers[^12] |

A February 25, 2025 release note states that Webex Go from Certified Calling Providers can be assigned to users in 16 countries: the United States, United Kingdom, France, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland[^1].

## Call Handling and Native Mobile Experience

Webex Go calls originate from the mobile phone's built-in Phone app, and on a device with multiple eSIMs, the user may need to pick the correct SIM for outbound calls[^44]. Users cannot change their caller ID from the Webex mobile app[^45]. For Webex Go, the Webex mobile app Calling Mode setting should be set to 'My Mobile Operator' so calls route over the cellular voice network rather than VoIP over data[^20].

When an incoming call rings all of a user's devices, declining on the Webex Go device lets the remaining devices continue ringing[^23]. A user can dial *11 directly on the Webex Go device to pull an active call from another of their devices onto the Webex Go device[^53]. When a call on the Webex Go number is connected and the user is signed in to the Webex App on the same phone, the call can be managed in progress from the app[^7]. The Webex App mobile call widget provides in-call controls—specifically Hold, Transfer, Video Meeting, Open Webex, and End call—for calls placed over Webex Go or over a mobile network operator that uses Cisco call control for signalling[^19].

By default, the Webex Go device overrides Do Not Disturb (DND) and alerts unless explicitly configured not to[^27]. In Control Hub, 'DND Override for mobile devices' is enabled by default, routing calls to Webex Go devices during DND and Quiet Hours unless an administrator turns it off[^26]. This DND Override applies only to Webex Go across Mobile Operator and BYOD deployments, controlling whether Webex Go devices alert when a user sets DND or Quiet Hours or is presenting[^29].

### Operational Limitations

After Webex Go is enabled, users of the Webex mobile companion app must sign out and back in, as well as enable notifications for the Webex App[^43]. Cisco states that phone features manipulating voice calls must be disabled for Webex Go compatibility, including Apple iOS Live Voicemail and Hold Assist Detection[^40]. Call blocking and filtering configured on an Android or iOS handset affects only the Webex Go device, leaving the user's other Webex devices alerting normally[^38]. Furthermore, device compatibility, mobility capabilities (such as VoWiFi, roaming, data, texting, and usage plans), and select carrier-specific calling features depend on the mobile provider[^39], and network conditions can influence whether incoming-call alerts reach the Webex Go device[^42].

## Complementary Mobile Calling Options

Webex Calling includes additional mobile connectivity mechanisms alongside Webex Go[^57][^31][^60]:

- **Single Number Reach (Office Anywhere):** Makes calls to a user's work number also ring other phone numbers, allowing users to make, receive, and move calls to or from any desk or mobile phone designated as a single number reach number[^57]. Users can configure single number reach in User Hub only after an administrator sets it up for their location and enables it for them[^55]. Outgoing calls placed with single number reach use the caller ID setting of the user's Webex Calling primary number[^56]. Incoming-call options per number include 'Do not forward calls' (calls do not forward even when call forwarding is active) and 'Answer confirmation' (the answering party must press a key before connection)[^58].
- **Dial-via-Office (DvO):** When enabled by an administrator, the Webex App provides 3 work-call modes: Voice over IP, Mobile voice network, and Autoselect[^31]. In 'Mobile voice network' mode, a call initiated from the Webex mobile app first rings the user's own phone, and once answered, rings the destination party[^30].
- **Switch to Mobile:** During a call in the Webex App, a user can tap More > Switch to <number> to move the call to the native Phone app with a short pause during the transition, provided the administrator has enabled the feature for that mobile number[^60].

## Emergency Calling on Mobile Devices

On mobile platforms with a cellular connection, the Webex App does not use RedSky for emergency calls[^32]. The emergency call routes through the native dialer over the cellular network, accompanied by an app pop-up confirming placement over cellular[^32]. If that cellular emergency call fails, the pop-up offers to place the call through the Webex App over Wi-Fi, though Wi-Fi calls do not provide emergency services with the caller's location in the manner cellular calls do[^34].
