# Webex Contact Center bulk operations imports and export jobs

Bulk Operations in Webex Contact Center enables administrators to create, modify, import, or export tenant configuration objects[^37]. It is accessed in Control Hub at admin.webex.com under Services, Contact Center, Tenant Settings, Bulk Operations[^31].

## How it works

Bulk Operations can create and edit configuration objects, but it cannot delete configuration objects[^32]. The system matches on the Name column: if an object name already exists, the record is updated from the CSV row, and if it does not exist, a new object is created[^52]. WarmTransfer's reading of the sources is that Address Book, Outdial ANI, and Skill Profile CSVs carry an optional Delete column that removes an individual child entry rather than the parent configuration object[^7].

Only 1 bulk operation can be active at a time in a Webex Contact Center tenant[^34]. A Bulk Operations CSV request can process a maximum of 5000 rows, and larger data sets must be split across multiple files and multiple requests[^41]. Webex Contact Center rejects any bulk operations CSV file that contains more than 5000 rows[^42]. Sources disagree on the maximum CSV file size: the Bulk Operations article states that Bulk Operations cannot process CSV files larger than 5 MB[^6], whereas the CSV definition article states that the maximum size limit for a bulk operations CSV file is 10 MB[^5].

Audio files are imported through Bulk Operations as a ZIP archive, and Webex Contact Center supports only WAV format for those files[^3]. The maximum supported size for an audio-file ZIP archive submitted to Bulk Operations is 50 MB[^60]. Audio files for agent personal greetings and compliance messages must be WAV, mono, 8 kHz sample rate, and 8-bit u-law encoded[^2].

A Bulk Operations job reports 1 of 5 statuses: New, In Progress, Completed, Completed with errors, or Failed[^23]. Jobs remain accessible for 1 year[^22]. When a job finishes with errors, the administrator can export the errors to CSV to see the per-record failure reasons and resubmit the corrected records[^14].

## Import and export procedures

The documented method to bulk-update existing configuration is to run an export job, download the export file, edit the rows in that CSV, and import it again[^16]. An export job is submitted by clicking Create Bulk Operation, selecting the configuration object type, entering a filename under Export, clicking Next, and downloading the file once the job completes[^15]. For skill profile administration, administrators are directed to this export procedure to bulk download configured profiles[^48].

An import job is submitted by clicking Create Bulk Operation, selecting the configuration object type, browsing to and uploading the CSV file, and clicking Next[^21]. Bulk Operations provides a downloadable sample template containing the correct CSV headers for the selected configuration object type[^50].

## CSV formatting rules and object types

The first row of a bulk operations CSV file is the header row, and a comma separates field values[^18]. In the bulk operations CSV definitions, all column values are mandatory unless explicitly marked otherwise[^30].

The CSV definition article documents column requirements for configuration object types[^17]:

| Object Type | Required Columns | Optional Columns |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Global Variables | Name, Variable Type, Default Value[^17] | Description, Agent Editable, Agent Viewable, Reportable, Desktop Label[^17] |
| Skill Definition | Name, Service Level Threshold, Type, List Values For Enum (when Type is ENUM)[^44] | Description[^44] |
| Skill Profile | Name, Skill Name, Skill Values[^46] | Description, Delete[^46] |
| Queue Child Rows | Name, Distribution Group Seq, Group Fallback Time, Group Teams[^38] | |
| User | Email, User Profile, Contact Center Enabled[^53] | Site, Teams, Skill Profile, Desktop Profile, Multimedia Profile, External Id, Default DN[^53] |
| Team | Name, Site, Type[^49] | Multimedia Profile, Skill Profile, DN, Capacity, Desktop Layout[^49] |
| Site | Name, Multimedia Profile[^43] | |
| Entry Point | Name, Service Level Threshold, Timezone, Channel Type[^12] | Description, Social Channel Type, Asset Name[^12] |
| Entry Point Mappings | Dialed Number, Entry Point, Region[^13] | |
| Holiday Lists | Name, Holiday Name, Start Date, End Date[^19] | Description[^19] |
| Working Hours | Name, Timezone, Shift Name, Days of Week, Start Time, End Time[^55] | Description, Holiday List, Overrides[^55] |
| Overrides | Name, Timezone, Override Name, Start Datetime, End Datetime, Enabled[^36] | Description[^36] |
| Dial Plans | Name, Regular Expressions[^9] | Prefix, Stripped Chars[^9] |
| Desktop Layouts | Name, Team Names, JSON File[^8] | Descriptions, Zipped JSON File[^8] |
| Call Recording Schedules | Name, Queue Name, Start Date, End Date, Days of Week, Start Time, End Time, Active, Enable Pause Resume, Percentage, Filter By Sites, Filter By Teams, Filter By Agents, Stop Recording for Transferred[^40] | Pause Duration[^40] |
| Threshold Rules | Name, Operand, Entity Type, Entity Name, Metric Type, Threshold Metric, Trigger Interval, Trigger Value[^51] | Description, Notification Receivers, Text Notification Receivers[^51] |
| Worktype | Name, Type[^56] | Description[^56] |
| Auxiliary Code | Name, Default, Work Type[^56] | Description[^56] |

A skill definition must already exist before that skill can be assigned to a skill profile through bulk operations[^45]. In the Skill Profile CSV, the profile serves as the parent row and each skill is a subsequent child row; skills not mentioned during an update remain unchanged on the profile[^47]. Conversely, when a queue or its call distribution groups are updated by bulk operations, the CSV must include the full queue definition with all distribution groups in parent-child form, and that definition overwrites the existing queue definition[^39].

## System limits and scale

Tenant capacity caps define upper bounds for bulk imports:
- 9000 skill profiles per tenant and 50 skills per skill profile[^26].
- 1000 active skills per tenant[^27].
- 20000 active users, 300 active sites, and 3000 agent-based teams per tenant[^28].
- 3000 address books, 6000 entries per address book, and 100000 address book entries in total[^24].
- 400 Outdial ANI lists, 200 entries per list, and 2000 Outdial ANI entries in total[^25].

WarmTransfer's reading of the sources is that reaching tenant object caps exceeding 5000 requires several serialized bulk jobs, because an individual bulk job is capped at 5000 rows and only 1 job runs at a time[^11].

## Platform differences and documentation

The Webex Contact Center documentation index lists both the Bulk Operations article and the CSV definition article under a Bulk Operations in Webex Contact Center section[^10]. WarmTransfer's reading of the sources is that help centre article na01x6o returns the same Bulk Operations body text and printed date as article 31e39g[^1].

Bulk Operations in Webex Contact Center differs from capabilities in related Cisco calling and contact center offerings:
- The Bulk Update Users, Bulk Skilling, and Bulk Password Reset features announced for August 2026 belong to the Webex Contact Center Enterprise Administration Portal rather than Control Hub Bulk Operations[^58]. Webex Contact Center Enterprise Bulk Update Users supports Agent Team, Profile, Agent Services, Digital Support Channel, Site, Location, and Enterprise Name[^59].
- Webex Calling bulk CSV provisioning is a separate Control Hub facility that can create, update, or delete elements based on field values[^57].

## Applicability

Applies to: Cisco Webex Contact Center, Cisco Webex Contact Center Enterprise, and Cisco Webex Calling. Deployments: multi-tenant. Sources checked 2026-09-22. The Webex Contact Center Enterprise features apply to the August 2026 release[^58].
