# Webex Calling calling features and feature parity vs UCM

Webex Calling provides calling features distributed across three license options, organized in documentation across four distinct license columns[^29]. Cisco explicitly notes that its published feature availability table is not a comprehensive list of all capabilities offered by the Webex Calling service[^18].

## License types and feature entitlement

Webex Calling offers 3 license options: Professional, Standard, and Workspace[^29]. In Cisco's feature documentation, these appear across 4 columns because the Professional license exists as a User form designed for individuals and a Workspace form designed for workspace calling, whereas Standard is user-only and Workspace is workspace-only[^29].

Device entitlements vary across these license columns:
- A Professional Workspace license includes an entitlement of 5 devices[^10].
- A Standard license permits 1 physical device (a Cisco collaboration device, a Cisco phone, an analog telephone adapter, or a third-party device) or all soft clients (the Webex App across desktop, tablet, and mobile), but not both simultaneously[^10][^28].
- A Workspace license includes an entitlement of 1 device[^10].
- The Professional User entitlement row is marked not applicable in the feature table[^10].

Cisco states that a Professional Workspace license is not applicable for Webex Calling Dedicated Instance[^24]. Furthermore, downgrading a user from a Professional license to a Standard license results in the loss of all provisioning and configuration information for all affected users; Cisco recommends this action only in extreme circumstances where all other options have been exhausted[^11]. AI Assistant for calling support is not offered on Standard licenses[^23].

## Line appearances and shared lines

Shared lines are supported on both Professional User and Professional Workspace licenses with a documented cap of 35, while they are not available on Standard or Workspace licenses[^26].

For a Professional workspace, up to 5 assigned devices can share the same primary line[^30]. Cisco specifies that this 5-device limit is separate from the total number of shared lines supported by the license, allowing the primary line of a workspace with 5 assigned devices to still be shared with up to 30 additional multiline endpoints[^30].

## Calling feature availability

Universal calling capabilities supported across all 4 license columns include:
- Call Waiting[^8]
- Monitoring (busy lamp field / BLF)[^8]
- Call Transfer[^8]
- Call Hold and Resume[^8]
- Caller ID[^8]
- Do Not Disturb[^8]
- Music On Hold[^8]

Call forwarding options also share broad availability, with Call Forwarding Always, Call Forwarding When Not Reachable (Business Continuity), Call Forwarding Busy, and Call Forwarding No Answer present across all 4 license columns[^19]. Call Forwarding Selective is supported on Professional User, Professional Workspace, and Standard licenses, but is omitted from the Workspace license[^19].

Single Number Reach (Office Anywhere) is available on Professional User and Standard licenses, but unavailable on Professional Workspace and Workspace licenses[^27]. In the field, the barge row in the Webex Calling feature table is named Barge-In Exempt rather than Barge-In, appearing on Professional User, Professional Workspace, and Standard licenses while absent on Workspace licenses, with no row published for barge-in itself[^7].

### Location group services

Every Webex Calling location is provisioned with a standard package of group services at no extra cost[^22]. This package comprises:
- Auto Attendant[^22]
- Call Pickup[^22]
- Voice Portal[^22]
- Call Queue (with agents based on user license)[^22]
- DECT Network[^22]
- Voice Mail Group[^22]
- Hunt Group[^22]
- Single Number Reach Portal[^27][^22]
- Announcement Repository[^22]
- Call Park Extension[^22]
- Group Paging[^22]
- Location Intercept[^22]
- Call Park Group[^22]
- Virtual Extensions[^22]
- Music on Hold[^22]

## Executive and executive assistant services

Executive and Executive Assistant features are available exclusively on the Professional User license and are unavailable on Professional Workspace, Standard, and Workspace licenses[^16]. Both executives and executive assistants must have assigned phone numbers, not merely extensions[^17].

Configuration is handled in Control Hub under Management > Users > [User] > Calling > Between-user permissions > Executive / Executive assistant, using a toggle to designate whether the user is the executive or the assistant[^14]. Executives activate call filtering using feature access code *61 and deactivate it using *62[^15].

Assistant alerting can be configured to ring Simultaneously across all assistant phones, or Sequentially based on the order defined in the assistant list[^12]. Executive alerting can independently ring mobility, Single Number Reach, and shared call appearance locations with either a Silent or Ring Splash alert[^12]. In the field, documentation notes that regardless of the number of assistants, only a number of concurrent calls can be placed on behalf of an executive at any time, but does not state that number[^13].

## Add-ons and management settings

For organizations using an on-premises private branch exchange requiring Cloud Connected PSTN, Route List Calls is available as an add-on license supporting up to 10,000 calls on an individual subscription and 10 concurrent licenses during trial[^25]. Dedicated Instance subscriptions include this feature without requiring an additional license[^25].

In-call features such as Remote Desktop Control and screen sharing are configured at multiple scopes within Control Hub:
- Organization-wide: Services > Calling > Settings > Webex App > In-call feature access[^21].
- Individual user: Management > Users > [User] > Calling > In-call experience[^21].
- User group: Management > Groups[^21].

## Applicability

Webex for Government does not support 7 specific calling features: Call Recording, Call Recording Partner, Webex Go, Webex Go Mobile Operator, Attendant Console, Business Texting, and Digital Fax Messaging[^20]. Users running Webex Calling client versions 44.3 or earlier lose access to calling services[^9]. Applies to: Cisco Webex Calling. Sources checked 2026-09-16.
