# UCCX objects and their Webex Contact Center equivalents

In Unified CCX, an application represents the configured object through which the system interacts with contacts and performs its operations[^17]. In Webex Contact Center, routing behavior is driven by entry points, channels, and flows that handle incoming interactions[^40][^43].

## Applications, Triggers, and Ingress

A Unified CCX application coordinates interactions and executes operational logic[^17]. Invocation occurs via triggers, which are specified signals that start an application script when a contact arrives[^32]. Unified CM Telephony triggers respond to calls arriving on designated route points by selecting telephony and media resources before launching an application script[^18]. Unified CCX also supports HTTP triggers, which use relative URLs entered into a browser to start an application without telephony bindings[^21].

In Webex Contact Center, inbound interaction points are configured as channels[^40]. A channel is an entry point combined with, for inbound telephony, a mapping to a dial or support number[^40]. An entry point connects to contact handling logic by selecting a flow in the Routing Flow setting of the channel[^42].

## Scripts, Flows, and Prompts

Unified CCX scripts are created in the Unified CCX Editor and maintained through the Script Management interface, which handles uploading, renaming, refreshing, and deleting script files[^28]. Audio prompt files in Unified CCX reside in the cluster Repository datastore and are managed under Applications > Prompt Management, where administrators upload individual prompt files, language folders, or ZIP archives[^26].

In Webex Contact Center, execution logic is defined by flows, which are user-configured sequences of activities that execute in response to an event[^43]. Media files are handled as bulk-operation audio files uploaded as ZIP archives containing.WAV files[^37].

Flows also leverage global variables configured in Control Hub, which remain accessible across the flow[^45]. A global variable can be made reportable in Analyzer, up to a maximum of 100 concurrently enabled reportable variables[^46]. Additionally, global variables can be flagged as agent-viewable to display on the Agent Desktop, with optional configuration for agent edit permissions[^44].

## Queues and Distribution Models

A Unified CCX Contact Service Queue (CSQ) manages incoming calls by deciding where they sit in queue and which agent receives them[^20]. A CSQ uses a Resource Pool Selection Model set to either:
- Resource Skills, creating a skills-based CSQ[^25].
- Resource Group, creating a resource-group-based CSQ that targets predefined collections of agents[^27][^25].

In Webex Contact Center, a queue acts as a temporary holding area that stores and manages incoming or outgoing contacts until they are distributed to agents[^51]. Each Webex Contact Center queue is configured for a specific channel type, including telephony, email, chat, or social[^52]. Interactions are routed into a queue using the Queue Contact activity in Flow Designer[^50]. Teams link to queues via call distribution groups, with each group configured with a priority level and an elapsed time delay before the next group is engaged[^39].

Webex Contact Center offers two arrangements for skills-based queues[^55]:
- Skill-based queues where skill criteria are locked on the queue definition and cannot be modified per interaction[^55].
- Skill-based queues with team assignment, which allow individual interactions to specify skill criteria directly inside the flow[^55].

Contacts queued in Webex Contact Center can also utilize skill relaxation, modifying initial skill requirements at configured time thresholds while waiting[^57]. Direct targeting of a specific agent is executed using the Queue To Agent flow activity, which matches agents using an agent ID or email address[^36].

## Skills and Competency

Unified CCX defines skills as customer-configured labels assigned to agents, with competency scored on a scale from 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest)[^29][^19].

Webex Contact Center skill definitions are of type Text, Proficiency, Boolean, or Enum[^58]. When using a Proficiency skill, values span from 0 through 10[^49]. Skills and their values are grouped into skill profiles, which are then assigned to individual agents or agent-based teams[^56].

## Organizational Hierarchy and Agent Desktop Settings

In Unified CCX, a team consists of agents reporting to a designated primary supervisor, alongside optional secondary supervisors[^31]. Agent phone books in Cisco Finesse are scoped either globally to All Users or specifically to selected Teams[^24]. Cisco Finesse caps phone book capacity at 50,000 total contacts, with a ceiling of 6,000 contacts per individual agent across all assigned phone books[^23]. Call attribution and state tracking rely on Wrap-Up reasons (indicating the reason for a customer call) and reason codes for Not Ready and Sign Out states[^33][^22].

In Webex Contact Center, organizational hierarchy begins with sites, which represent physical enterprise contact center locations; creating a site automatically provisions a team and a multimedia profile[^54]. A team is linked directly to a site at configuration time, and this site relationship cannot be edited after creation[^59].

Desktop permissions and state configurations are defined inside desktop profiles, which control access to wrap-up codes, idle codes, address books, outdial entry points, and outdial ANI[^41]. In bulk operations, wrap-up and idle states are managed under Work Types using the values WRAP_UP_CODE and IDLE_CODE, where auxiliary code records reference their parent work type[^60]. Historical reporting for these codes is grouped into auxiliary reports within Webex Contact Center Analyzer[^38]. Concurrency across communication types is managed via multimedia profiles, which set how many concurrent contacts an agent handles per media type and can be attached at the tenant, site, team, or agent level[^47].
