# Cisco headsets and Webex App calling endpoints

Canonical: https://warmtransfer.net/knowledge/cisco-headsets-endpoints

Last verified: 2026-09-25

Cisco documents two primary platforms for administering its headsets: Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Webex Control Hub[^36]. The supported headset portfolio covers devices integrated across the Webex App, Cisco multiplatform phones (MPP), and Cisco Desk Phone 9800 Series endpoints[^36][^57][^40][^10].

## Supported models and call controls

The Webex App headset support list includes 8 Cisco headset families: the 320, 520, 530, and 560 Series, the 720 Series, the 730, the Bang & Olufsen Cisco 950, and the Bang & Olufsen Cisco 980[^57]. The Webex App also supports call control from selected third-party headsets from Jabra, EPOS, Poly (Plantronics), and Yealink[^60]. However, Jabra headsets currently do not work on Webex VDI for Dell ThinOS[^35].

Bluetooth wireless models include the Cisco Headset 720 Series, Cisco Headset 730, Bang & Olufsen Cisco 950, and Bang & Olufsen Cisco 980, all of which can also connect through a Cisco USB adapter[^25]. The Bang & Olufsen Cisco 950 connects to the Webex App through Bluetooth or the USB HD Adapter; direct USB cable connections are not supported[^7]. For the Cisco Headset 720 Series, raising the microphone boom mutes the call, and unmuting is blocked while the boom remains raised[^3]. Button actions on the Cisco Headset 720 Series depend on the device variant[^6][^4]:

| Variant | Answer call | End call | Reject call |
|---|---|---|---|
| Webex[^6] | Press Webex button once | Hold Webex button 2 seconds | Press Webex button twice |
| Microsoft Teams[^4] | Single press of the Teams button | Single press of the Teams button | Hold Teams button 1 second |

In the Webex desktop app, user-configurable headset settings are located under Settings > Accessories after selecting the headset model[^59]. For the Cisco Headset 320 and 530 Series, the Webex App compatibility guide lists hold and resume as available only when connected to Unified CM[^58].

### Multi-app behaviour

The multi-app feature routes headset button presses to a single calling application at a time rather than broadcasting them across every open application[^45]. This applies to Webex 41.8 or later and Jabber 14.1 or later[^44]. Multi-app control functions only over Bluetooth or USB cable connections with Webex and Jabber[^46]. Under multi-app control, answering an incoming call in a secondary application does not automatically place the active call on hold[^48]. Multi-app support requires specific minimum firmware versions across supported headset series[^47]:

- Cisco Headset 320 Series requires 2.4(1) or later[^47].
- Cisco Headset 520 and 530 Series require 2.3(1) or later[^47].
- Cisco Headset 560 Series requires 2.1(1) or later[^47].
- Cisco Headset 730 requires 1-6-0-150 or later[^47].

## Control Hub administration and inventory

The Webex Control Hub headset inventory tracks individual Cisco headsets connected to the Webex App, Webex Meetings, and the Cisco Accessory Hub desktop app[^31]. Each inventory entry displays the headset model, serial number, firmware version, connection status, and connection duration[^29]. Administrators can generate an inventory report or delete single headsets and groups of headsets from the organization's inventory[^30][^28]. Managing headset details in Control Hub requires an administrator role with device management permissions[^26].

Control Hub provides 2 firmware release channels: Stable (TAC-supported and containing tested releases) and Beta (not TAC-supported, providing software for early field trials)[^33][^34]. When a Cisco headset connects to the Webex App or to a Webex-authenticated Cisco Accessory Hub desktop app, the application verifies the headset model and firmware, prompting the user if an upgrade is available[^21].

Configurations can be applied to individual headsets via All Configurations on the device page, or in bulk by selecting multiple headsets and choosing Edit > Device Configurations[^27]. For the Cisco Headset 560 Series, Control Hub provides parameters beyond the 320, 520, and 530 Series: Bandwidth (default Wide Band), Conference (default Enable), Bluetooth (default On), and Radio Range (default Medium range)[^2]. The Cisco Headset 560 Series Conference setting permits up to 3 guest headsets to pair with the base[^2][^1].

## Cisco Accessory Hub desktop app

Cisco Accessory Hub configures settings, manages firmware updates for Cisco headsets, desk cameras, and USB adapters, and registers devices to Webex Control Hub[^15]. Beginning in version 2.2.0.162 (August 2024), connected headsets and cameras register to the signed-in user in Control Hub[^16]. Version 3.0.0.314 (January 2025) added pairing and history management for the Cisco Headset USB-C Adapter, and version 4.2.0.410 (January 2026) introduced an MSI installer package[^17][^14].

To update a headset in the desktop app, users select Accessories, choose the headset, open Headset info, and select Start update, with the option to specify a local firmware file[^20]. Cisco advises against running the desktop and web versions of Accessory Hub simultaneously during an update to avoid upgrade issues[^19].

## USB adapters and wireless pairing

Cisco offers the USB HD Adapter and the USB-C Adapter for wireless headsets[^53][^18]. The Cisco Headset USB HD Adapter ships pre-paired with its headset, whereas standalone USB-C Adapters require manual pairing[^53]. Re-pairing the USB HD Adapter involves holding its Pair button for 4 seconds until the LED blinks blue[^54]. The USB-C Adapter is paired using Start Pair in the Accessory Hub application and stores up to 8 connection history records[^54][^55]. Firmware updates for Cisco wireless headsets are not supported through either the USB HD Adapter or the USB-C Adapter[^18].

## Hardware endpoint support

### Cisco Unified Communications Manager

Unified CM administrators can remotely configure headset parameters, including Bluetooth state, audio bandwidth, and wireless power range[^52]. Deployment requires activating the Cisco Headset Service, installing headset COP files containing firmware and configuration data, creating user profiles, and assigning profiles to users[^50][^49]. For configuration templates to apply, end users must be associated with User Profiles and their endpoint MAC addresses must be designated as controlled devices[^51].

### Multiplatform phones (MPP)

Cisco states that Cisco headsets require no administrative intervention on multiplatform phones running the latest phone firmware; the headset downloads necessary software on initial connection[^40]. Multiplatform phones support headsets starting at specific firmware releases[^37][^38][^39]:

- Cisco Headset 520 and 530 Series: Multiplatform Firmware Release 11.1.2 or later[^37]
- Cisco Headset 560 Series: Multiplatform Firmware Release 11.2.3 or later[^38]
- Cisco Headset 730: Multiplatform Firmware Release 11.3.5 or later[^39]

Upgrades are configured under Voice > Provisioning > Cisco Headset Firmware Upgrade as a single string containing the protocol (HTTP or TFTP), server address, and the headset XML file[^42]. Cisco states that the headset XML file contents should not be altered[^41]. An upgrade triggers when the headset USB adapter is connected and the XML version is newer than the headset software, taking approximately 10 minutes[^43]. Phone resets do not erase headset configurations[^41].

### Cisco Desk Phone 9800 Series

On the Cisco Desk Phone 9800 Series, the Cisco Headset 720 Series and 730 require headset firmware 1-12-0-154 or later and connect over Bluetooth, USB, or USB adapter[^10]. 720 Series firmware upgrades require a direct USB connection on both 9800 Series phones and the Webex App[^5][^11]. When connected to a 9800 Series phone, the Bang & Olufsen Cisco 950 and 980 do not support hold and resume from the headset[^12]. Cisco Headset 530 Series units connected via RJ-9 lack call controls, which function only over USB[^8]. Remote configuration of the 560 Series on 9800 Series phones requires Unified CM 12.5(1)SU3 or later[^9]. To prevent overcurrent issues with Cisco Bluetooth headsets on the Cisco Desk Phone 9841, Cisco advises connecting through the USB dongle or ensuring the headset is fully charged prior to connection[^13].
